The region’s history is collected in this museum.
There are cave paintings, historic pieces, regional sacred art, furniture, petroglyphs, fossils, and other historic objects. They offer guided visits and workshops. The facility has an auditorium and shop.
❖ Try the Barbacoa Tacos, Compuesta Sandwiches, and Sweet Glorias
Don’t leave Linares without sampling its traditional fare.
Enjoy the Northeast’s signature dishes: goat, beef cortadillo stew, and slow-roasted barbacoa tacos. The local specialties are legendary. The compuesta sandwiches are (literally) composed of a soft roll bathed in a chorizo sausage and tomato sauce then layered with vegetables and cheese or hard-boiled egg–a true delicacy. And of course, you have to indulge yourself with the famous sweet glorias–caramelized milk and pecans–, marquetas–another similar candy–, dried meat, chorizo sausage, and delicate hojarasca cookies.

Es un buen sitio para pescar bagre y mojarra, pasear en lancha o kayak, o simplemente pasar el día con la familia o los amigos para contemplar el entorno. Tiene un centro recreativo con alberca, restaurante y asadores.
❖ Buy Local Handicrafts and Delicacies
Linares’ leather saddlery objects have a well-deserved reputation, along with wooden and reed handicrafts. As far as candy goes, no one should visit Linares without snapping up glorias (a milk-based candy like caramels), marquetas (similar to glorias, but spread flat), dried meat, chorizo sausage, and powdery hojarasca cookies. Every Saturday, a handicraft market is held in Plaza Puerta del Sol offering regional products and handicrafts.

The Villaseca de Linares Fair takes place every year during July and August, showcasing the best local handicrafts, products, and food.
There are traditional rodeo-like charreadas, parades, horse rides, suertes charras showing off horsemanship, and horse races.
One of the most anticipated musical events is the Tamborileros de Linares show with drum and clarinet music.
