◈ It is difficult to believe that until recently, only a few people lived in this town in the Riviera Nayarit, working to extract coconut in the Hacienda de Jaltempa.

Now, it has become a very popular destination for surf lovers, it is home to Mexicans and foreigners whose warm and fun personalities add to the natural landscapes, the colorful houses, and the lively narrow streets, elements which together generate very rewarding experiences by the sea.

The southern beaches are ideal for beginner surfers, whereas the northern ones are appropriate for all levels.

You can also go swimming, kayaking, fishing, walking, horseback riding or snorkeling. You can’t miss Playa de los Muertos, to get there you have to cross the cemetery; here you will find a lovely beach with clean, soft sand that is perfect for enjoying moments in the shade of the palm trees.

Mal Paso usually has very few people on it so is a good option if you are looking for privacy. Lo de Marcos, 11 miles away, is one of the quietest in the area. We also recommend you visit Kestos and Patzcuarito.
